PERCUSSION, MARIMBA,VIBRAPHONE, FLAMENCO PERCUSSION BOX
He studied in Barcelona, Germany and the United States with
teachers like Xavier Joaquim, Pedrito Díaz, Siegfried
Fink, Ted Wolf, Joe Hunt, Allan, Morris Lang, Dave Samuels, Gary
Burton, Peter Erskine, etc.
Has collaborated with Tete Montoliu, J. A. Amargós, Álvaro
Is, Zé Eduardo, J. A. Cubero, M. Rossy, Tito Puente, R.
Roda, John Shurman, Carles Benavent, J. Bonell, S. Arisa, Feliu
Gasull, and with groups like the Big Band of the Modern Music
and Jazz Workshop and the Musicians’ Workshop, the Catalan
Instrumental Group directed by Carles Santos, the AMJC orchestra,
the Teatre Lliure orchestra, La Capella Reial, Sperion XX, and
the Orchestres des Nations.
Within the years he has been working with a huge variety of artists
such as Victoria dels Angels, Josep Carreras, Charles Aznavour,
Placido Domingo, Jordi Savall, Morente, Raimon, José Meneses,
Ginesa Ortega, Maria del Mar Bonet, etc.
He has created compositions for Comediants, and commercial adds
for Nissan, Seat, Port Aventura, Habitat, etc.
Founding member of the group Catalònia, the Barcelona
Percussion Group, duets with Lluís Vidal, Conrat Setó and
Antoni-Olaf Sabater, the Xaloc trio, and the experimental BCN
Percussion group.
Creator of contemporary music band GRUP XXI, he is the director
together with Peter Bacchus.
Awarded the National Interpretation Prize for Young Spanish Musicians;
the City of Barcelona Prize; and the Special Prize and Prize
for the Best Group, awarded by the Jazz Musicians’ Association
of Catalonia.
In the teaching field he has taught at the Barcelona Musical
Study Centre (CEMB), Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), and
is founder of the Barcelona Modern Music and Jazz Workshop.
He currently dedicates his time to composition and collaborates
in a host of projects as CAJONMANIA, AYATANA, BARRY-PEREIRA QUINTET,
COMEDIANTS, ENANJA, BARCELONA ENSEMBLE, etc.
