WORKSHOP OF FLAMENCO PERCUSSION
EL CAJÓN It is obvious
that “cajon” is an instrument that has become established
in Europe since being imported from Peru by Paco de Lucia in
the 80’s. From a strictly educational point of view, “cajon” is
an excellent instrument to become acquainted with the world
of rhythm and percussion.
At the same time, using closely related
rhythms, like “palos de flamenco” (a style of flamenco
singing), makes the experience for the learner extremely satisfactory.
The techniques and rhythms of “cajon”, “tinaja” and “toque
de palmas” (flamenco hand-clapping) are all covered in
this course, as well as the main styles Rumba, Bulerias, Tango
and Tanguillos.
The workshop consists of four 3h. sessions in groups of maximum
15 people. It is directed by two specialists in the subject:
Nan Mercader, author of “La percusion en el flamenco” (cajon
method) and Angel Pereira.
