WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN
A workshop in which children will learn
primary rhythms from different cultures through play. Using
traditional chants and original compositions, the group will
experiment with the perception of tempo (or beat), binary and
ternary rhythms, as well as with polyrhythms. Polyrhythm is
the interpretation of more than one rhythm at the same time,
in order to create a more complex rhythm. Certain aspects of
motivity will also be developed by working with the body through
movement.
Another of the aims of this workshop is to encourage spontaneity
in the individuals using different instruments like: darbuka,
bongos, congas, cajon and other smaller afro-american and brasilian
percussion instruments.
